The first CS Major of 2026 is officially landing in Cologne. Yes, that Cologne. The Cathedral of Counter-Strike. LANXESS Arena. The holy ground where legends were born and where some of the most iconic plays in esports history still echo like a permanent chant from the crowd.
And after ten long years, the Major is coming back home.
A Historic Return to the Cathedral
From June 2 to 21, 2026, the world’s top 32 teams will descend upon Cologne, Germany, to battle for a monster $1,250,000 prize pool, a chapter in Counter-Strike history, and a step toward the elusive ESL Grand Slam.
Marc Winther from ESL FACEIT put it perfectly:
“Bringing the Major back to Cologne after a decade is a celebration of everything IEM Cologne stands for.”
This isn’t just another Major.
This is a homecoming.
An extra day of competition, new ways for fans to connect, and the kind of arena energy that only Cologne can deliver? This is shaping up to be the biggest IEM Cologne ever—and arguably one of the most important Majors of all time.

Invites will be based on the Valve Regional Standings, updated after the 2025 Winter Major and again in April 2026, determining who gets their ticket to Cologne.

We’ve had great arenas and unforgettable matches since the switch to CS2, but this is the one that will define the era.
