Developed by KUNOS Simulazioni, Supernova Games Studios, and published by 505 Games, the update marks a first for rally simulation: Monte-Carlo has never before received the precision of complete laser-scanning in any racing title. Alongside the legendary stages, Update 0.3 introduces a dynamic snow system that represents another genre first.
Monte-Carlo Gets the Laser-Scan Treatment
Monte-Carlo represents over a century of motorsport history, defined by narrow mountain roads, blind crests, and rapidly changing conditions. Assetto Corsa Rally applies the same laser-scanning methodology used throughout the title to capture exact road geometry, surface character, and technical complexity.
Update 0.3 delivers two fully laser-scanned Monte-Carlo stages:
- La Bollène-Vésubie – Col de Turini (18 km): One of rallying’s most famous mountain stages. Col de Turini features constant elevation changes, narrow passages, and an unbroken sequence of tight hairpins and off-camber corners. The stage demands precise throttle control and mechanical sympathy from start to finish.
- Sisteron (13 km): A contrasting challenge featuring wide, smooth roads and long open corners that maintain high average speeds. Deceptive rhythm, critical braking zones with limited visibility, and demanding pace-note timing require measured commitment throughout.
Laser-scanning technology captures millimeter-accurate road surface data, providing a level of fidelity that distinguishes Assetto Corsa Rally from competitors using photogrammetry or manual recreation methods. The precision directly impacts physics simulation and handling characteristics.
Dynamic Snow System Makes Rally History
The Monte-Carlo Rally is defined by unpredictable weather. Stages can begin in dry conditions and end in snowfall, making tyre choice at service critical. Assetto Corsa Rally 0.3 introduces the first dynamic snow system in rally simulation that treats snow as a genuinely dynamic atmospheric event rather than a static environmental element.
Snow falls when realistic meteorological conditions are met: precipitation combined with temperatures below 0°C. Temperature varies with altitude, location, and time of day, while cold tarmac progressively reduces grip before snow arrives. A stage opening under clear skies can evolve into entirely different conditions by its final kilometers. The dynamic weather system is currently exclusive to both Monte-Carlo stages.
New Cars: Historic Icon Meets Modern Rally2
Update 0.3 adds two vehicles representing different eras of rally competition:
The Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.6 HF Gr.4 is a front-wheel-drive icon powered by a narrow-angle 1.6L V4 engine producing between 115 and 130+ HP. The Fulvia HF claimed the 1972 International Rally Championship and won Monte-Carlo itself that year. The car demands fundamentally different driving technique compared to modern four-wheel-drive machinery.
The ŠKODA Fabia RS Rally2 represents current top-level rally competition below the WRC tier. The full FIA Rally2-specification machine features a 289 HP 1.6L turbocharged engine and four-wheel drive. The Fabia RS Rally2 won on its competitive debut at the 2022 Lausitz Rally, demonstrating the precision and power of modern rally engineering.
Expanded Content and Availability
The update introduces new winter and snow tyre compounds alongside the ability to mix compounds across axles, mirroring real-world Monte-Carlo preparation strategies. As weather evolves during a stage, tyre selection becomes as critical as driving pace.
Update 0.3 expands competitive content with 40 new AC Rally Events added to the roster, along with improvements and fixes across the title.
